Facts...
I am no different, I have been there...
I grew up with a twin sister who was brilliant... No, I'm serious - she could read fluently at the age of 3. Well, I didn't even know letters at that age and definitely couldn't read. In fact I couldn't read properly for a long time as I was dyslexic but no one knew about it as I developed the skill of memorising all school readings so no one would notice that there was something wrong with me. I felt I was not as good as others. My sister could read yet it was a struggle for me. It was the first time I remember where I developed a belief about myself that I was stupid. Being a twin you are constantly compared to each other and this knocked my confidence and self-esteem. There were of course some other situations that contributed to me feeling bad about myself - too many to mention.
And when you have low self-esteem you tend to build a life that doesn't necessarily work for you...
A few years ago my life was in turmoil. I had some bad relationships that affected me and my self-esteem and my work was so stressful that I couldn’t see a way out. Exhausted I still managed to find a glimmer of hope and direction and I took a conscious decision to invest time in improving my self-esteem and committed myself to change my mindset and create a life I would love.
I was lucky enough that I went on to study psychology and psychotherapy (well, 4 degrees under my belt so as you can see I clearly love learning) so I knew some techniques that could help me to achieve my goal. I was able to put into practice the most powerful and effective exercises, which I share in my online course - one of them being what I call ‘the best kept secret in psychology’.
Fast forward a few years and here I am now, feeling great about myself, surrounded in my life by lovely and caring people, doing the job I love, which doesn't feel like working and that doesn’t drain me in any way; on the contrary - it energises and inspires me. I was also able to design my life so I work only 4 days a week to keep what I think is a good work/life balance and so I have time to do things I enjoy…
Life is gooood!
If you asked me a few years ago if I thought it was possible to get to the place I am now I would have had doubts, but now as I am here, I am living proof that anything in life is possible. And I attribute all the positive changes that happened to me to one thing only - having a healthy self-esteem in place.
This is good news for you as it means you too don't have to change a lot of things in different areas of your life to achieve similar results. All you have to do is to focus on improving your self-esteem and the rest will follow.
As I mentioned before - I love learning and it is important to me as the more knowledge I have, the more tools and techniques I know, the better the help and support I can offer you.
